Our posistion on Human Trafficking
Trafficking - Babylon, Rich by the Wealth of Her Sensuality
For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.” Revelation 18:3 NASB
The people of early Babylon, just as today didn’t acknowledge a single deity as a God, instead they worshiped many man-made gods of mystical power and strength.
God Calls His People to “Come out of Babylon”
“I heard another voice from heaven, saying, ”Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues;” Revelation 18:4 NASB
Trafficking Today - A Culture of Commercialism
Those who become captive to trafficking are generally unable to provide for their needs without assistance. This could be food, water, shelter, protection for themselves or someone else, addiction or emotional distress. They, the needy, fall prey to endless cycles of despair and feelings of guilt and unworthiness without hope for resolve.
Our Culture is Today as in the Days of Babylon - Over-Ruled by “The Natural Man”
“But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 NASB
The natural man believes that his knowledge of leadership is far superior. He cannot understand the desire for self-discipline a christian acquires through guidance by The Holy Spirit and obedience to God’s Will. Instruction from a natural man make slaves of those who partake.
The Needy Become Captive to Evil
“The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender's slave.” Proverbs 22:7 NASB
Our worldly media and culture encourage commercialized evil of emotional and physical slavery of hearts and minds of the children, the poor and the needy to satisfy an evil lust. This is a substitution to the unaware, of the free-will offering of God’s salvation of repentance of sin and acceptance of His salvation, with a void of empty darkness.
“Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money to come, buy and eat.” Isaiah 55:1 NASB
“Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7 NASB
“If anyone is thirsty , let him come to me and drink. John 7:37 NASB
Human Trafficking in the United States:
Contrary to popular belief, human trafficking also occurs in the
United States across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The U.S.
National Human Trafficking Hotline estimates there are hundreds of
thousands of human trafficking victims in the United States.
In 2019 alone, the National Human Trafficking Hotline fielded 11,500 cases of human trafficking in the U.S. involving over 22,000 victims and survivors. The National Human Trafficking Resource Center found that 41% of sex trafficking cases and 20% of labor trafficking cases reported in the United States from 2007 to 2012 identified U.S. citizens as victims.
Of sex trafficking cases reported in the U.S. in that same period, 85% of victims were women. In North America generally, sex trafficking is the most common form of human trafficking, with 72% of all victims on the continent being trafficked for sexual exploitation. AAUW believes that global interdependence requires national and international policies against human trafficking and that promote peace, justice, human rights, sustainable development, and mutual security for all people.
